FBI says Operation Summer Heat has netted 4K arrests in two months

The FBI said Wednesday that Operation Summer Heat, now in its second year, has resulted in over 4,000 arrests and 1,500 indictments in just the past two months.

"Week after week, FBI teams across the country remain committed to confronting the most egregious threats," the bureau said on X. "All the efforts coming from our agents, intelligence analysts, and support staff directly support our mission to be a trusted partner to the nation. 

"We all joined the bureau with the same dedication in mind," it continued. "Operations like Summer Heat demonstrate that commitment every day."

The bureau said its teams arrested three members of the Mexican mafia last week who were convicted of murder in 2023, and a member of the Houston street gang Rich Kings. 

The operation also led to the seizure of over 2,500 weapons and 3,300 kg of cocaine during these past two months.

The update comes after the bureau announced Tuesday that it has arrested over 6,600 people in Washington, D.C., over the past year as part of its Safe and Beautiful initiative. 

The FBI also conducted Operation Summer Heat last year, which resulted in the arrests of more than 8,000 dangerous criminals.
