Federal government planning 3 new Border Patrol stations, 2 checkpoints across Arizona

Federal officials are moving forward with plans for three new Border Patrol stations and two checkpoints across Arizona, with the projects collectively representing hundreds of millions of dollars in potential federal investment.

The proposed stations would be located in the Three Points, Casa Grande and Sonoita-Elgin areas and are expected to accommodate a combined 1,000 Border Patrol personnel. 

Each project is currently estimated to cost more than $100 million, a report said. 

U.S. Customs and Border Protection said the projects remain in the early planning stages and would be funded through the 2025 federal reconciliation law, which provided $5 billion for CBP facilities and checkpoints nationwide.
