Insurance giant Chubb is facing calls for a federal probe into its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives and other practices over alleged violation of President Donald Trump's executive orders and anti-discrimination laws.
Chubb is an American-Swiss insurance conglomerate that operates internationally. It is listed on the New York Stock Exchange and is part of Lloyds of London.
Watchdog Consumers' Research on Wednesday launched a campaign against Chubb over its climate and DEI practices, calling it the "wokest insurance company" and demanding that the Department of Justice investigate the firm.
Writing to Attorney General Pam Bondi and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Consumers' Research Executive Director Will Hild said that Chubb's practices "run counter not only to the colorblind policies of this administration, but very likely, to the Civil Rights Act and other federal anti-discrimination laws as well."
"In addition to its race-essentialist hiring and workplace policies, Chubb also allows DEI to guide its philanthropic initiatives through the Chubb Rule of Law Fund and the Chubb Charitable Foundation," he added.
Apart from Hild's letter, Consumers' Research has launched an ad campaign to address the company's practices. That campaign features a website (WokeChubb.com), a nationwide "Woke in Action" TV ad, a series of mobile billboards, and a digital campaign.
