New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdania threatened Monday to file a lawsuit against the Trump administration unless it stops "unlawful commandeering" of city-owned properties during operations of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

In a letter to US Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin, Mamdani's office warned that if officers of the agency continue parking immigration vehicles in city parking lots, the city will take them to court, the New York Post reported.

“ICE has not secured any authorization from the City to use these lots for immigration enforcement. To be clear: the City does not authorize ICE using its property in this manner,” the letter states.

In an unrelated press conference Monday, Mamdani said that the letter makes clear that the city has no right to use city property for its operations.
