FBI Director Kash Patel said Monday that DNA places Charlie Kirk's suspected shooter at the crime scene.

Patel told said on the Fox News Channe that a screwdriver was found on a rooftop at Utah Valley University, where police believe 22-year-old Tyler Robinson shot and killed Kirk on Wednesday, USA Today reported. A dark-colored towel that wrapped the .30-06 rifle was also recovered.

“I can report today that the DNA hit from the towel that was wrapped around the firearm and the DNA on the screwdriver are positively processed for the suspect in custody,” Patel said.

The FBI director confirmed that the FBI has interviewed Robinson’s live-in romantic partner, who is cooperating with authorities.

“We’re learned some shocking things when we spoke to his family and friends,” Patel said, referencing Robinson's “left-wing ideology.”

He also, in a text message conversation, Robinson “claimed that he had an opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk, and that he was going to do it because of his hatred for what Charlie [a conservative political activist] stood for.”

The FBI also found out about a similar, handwritten note allegedly by Robinson that was left in his apartment before the shooting. While Patel said that the note had been destroyed, investigators obtained forensic evidence and were able to confirm what it said through an “aggressive interview posture."
