Federal prosecutors have charged 70-year-old Howard Rubin, a retired New York City financier, with organizing a decade-long sex-trafficking scheme.
The acts allegedly mostly occurred in a Manhattan penthouse described as a “sex dungeon.”
His former assistant, Jennifer Powers, is also accused of aiding the operation by recruiting women between 2009 and 2019.
Prosecutors said the women were drugged or intoxicated in some cases, prosecuters said.
According to the New York Post, Rubin has ties to George Soros, investor and philanthropist and mega-donor to the Democratic Party. Rubin previously worked as a top manager at Soros Fund Management as well as Bear Stearns.
