U.S. Foreign adversaries, including Russia and China, may be trying to recruit federal employees who were fired or believe they may be fired.

A document from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, according to CNN, said information assessed with "high confidence" by the intelligence community found that foreign adversaries are attempting to "capitalize" on the Trump administration's efforts to reduce the size of the federal workforce.

The intelligence showed that foreign intelligence officers are using LinkedIn, TikTok, RedNote and Reddit as sources to identify recruits. One foreign intelligence officer, according to the CNN report, which also cited unnamed sources, directed an asset to post a job advertisement on a company profile created to pursue federal employees indicating they are “open to work.”
