Trump says Education Secretary McMahon will continue to gut department following SCOTUS victory
Trump said that the federal government had been running education into the ground.
President Donald Trump announced Monday that Education Secretary Linda McMahon will continue to gut the department following the Supreme Court victory and send education back to the states.
"The United States Supreme Court has handed a Major Victory to Parents and Students across the Country, by declaring the Trump Administration may proceed on returning the functions of the Department of Education BACK TO THE STATES," Trump wrote on TRUTH Social. "Now, with this GREAT Supreme Court Decision, our Secretary of Education, Linda McMahon, may begin this very important process."
Trump added that the federal government had been running education into the ground.
"America’s Students will be the best, brightest, and most Highly Educated anywhere in the World," Trump's post concluded. "Thank you to the United States Supreme Court!"
The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday ruled that the Trump administration is allowed to fire hundreds of employees at the Department of Education.
The ruling comes after a federal judge in Massachusetts ruled that the nearly 1,400 workers had to be reinstated after they were laid off, according to Reuters.
