U.S. set to impose new $250 visa fee on foreign visitors starting Oct. 1

International travel to the U.S. fell 3.1% year-on-year in July, according to U.S. government statistics, which was the fifth month of decline so far in 2025, according to a Reuters analysis

The U.S. will soon begin imposing a new $250 "visa integrity fee" on foreign travelers.

Reuters noted that international travel to the U.S. fell 3.1% year-on-year in July, according to U.S. government data, which was the fifth month of decline so far in 2025.

The fee takes effect on October 1 and will apply to non-visa waiver countries such as Mexico, India, Argentina, Brazil and China.

The new fee brings the average total visa cost to $442, among the highest around the globe.
