Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin on Thursday revealed that he had met with Sarah Milgrim, one of the two Israeli staffers who was killed on Wednesday night, just two weeks before her death.

Israeli embassy staffers Milgrim and Yaron Lischinsky were both fatally shot at close range outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington D.C. on Wednesday night, according to authorities. The pair were dating and were attending an event at the museum hosted by the American Jewish Committee at the time.

Zeldin said he had a positive view of Milgrim, who he met at his office in the EPA headquarters, and shared an image of their meeting. He did not disclose what the meeting was about.

"I just met Sarah two weeks ago in my office at EPA HQ. She struck me as a young woman filled with life and positivity," he posted on X. "Heartbroken to learn she was one of two tragically murdered last night by a Jew-hating radical screaming 'Free Palestine.' May Sarah and Yaron rest in peace."

The D.C. Metropolitan Police said the suspect in the shooting has been detained, and identified him as 30-year-old Elias Rodriguez from Chicago. After he shot the victims, he walked into the museum and asked for police to be called so he could be arrested.

An investigation into the shooting is still ongoing.
