Seven Salisbury University students charged in alleged hate crime attack

One of the suspects created an account on the dating app Grindr and lured the victim to an apartment where he was allegedly attacked by about 15 individuals due to his sexual orientation, according to authorities.

Seven Salisbury University students have been charged in an alleged hate crime attack that occurred on Oct. 15.

One of the suspects created an account on the LGBTQ dating app Grindr and lured the victim to an apartment where he was allegedly attacked by about 15 individuals due to his sexual orientation, according to authorities.

"Approximately 15 college-aged males appeared from the back bedrooms," according to the charging documents.

The victim was ultimately able to escape suffered and was treated at the hospital for a broken rib.

The defendants reportedly attended court hearings on Wednesday and were released on electronic monitoring.
