The Washington D.C. Fire and Emergency Services Department said Thursday that two people are being evaluated for minor injuries related to a small fire on an underground trolley that was transporting people between the Rayburn House Office building and the Capitol.
The department said no one on the trolley was injured, and the fire has since been extinguished. The cause of the fire was not immediately clear.
The Capitol Police also confirmed the fire to Politico, stating that no one was allowed in the area because of smoke.
Streets near the Capitol, including Independence Avenue, were temporarily closed while first responders arrived on the scene.
