Border Czar Tom Homan this week insisted that ending sanctuary city policies across the country would ultimately save thousands of lives by helping to remove violent criminals from the country.

Homan made the comments in the wake of the shooting of Loyola University Chicago student Sheridan Gorman in Chicago.

"President Trump wants to take sanctuary cities on, and we’re going to continue taking them on. We['ve] got to end sanctuary city policies, because doing so will save thousands, thousands of lives," he told NewsNation.

Sanctuary jurisdictions are municipalities that do not cooperate with federal immigration enforcement. Thirteen states have adopted such policies across the board, as have several major American cities, according to Center for Immigration Studies.

Homan, earlier this year, managed to secure the cooperation of Minnesota authorities, following a months-long enforcement effort in Minneapolis and a number of fatal altercations between federal agents and protesters.
