The Pentagon announced Friday that the United States Marine Corps is the latest military service to achieve its recruitment goal for the 2026 fiscal year and that it has a strong start for 2027.

The War Department said the service has accessed 31,250 enlisted Marines, 1,672 officers and 3,503 prior service reserve Marines in fiscal year 2026, and those recruited are of the same high quality caliber the force is known for.

"Our success this year is a testament to the disciplined execution of our elite recruiting force on the streets of America," Maj. Gen. Walker Field, the Marine Corps Recruiting Command commanding general, said in a statement.

"Likewise, it is emblematic of the legion of young Americans who are choosing, of their own volition, to serve this great nation of ours," he continued. "The few young Americans who earn the title of Marine espouse the rare trifecta of physical, intellectual and moral fortitude to become elite warriors."

The service said that on top of meeting its 2026 recruitment goals, it has also contracted more than half of its entire 2027 mission.

The announcement comes after the United States Army Reserves met its goal last week and the Army met its own goal in May.
