Record amount of NATO allies hitting their defense spending target as Ukraine war continues

According to the Associated Press, 6 member nations met the goal in 2021 prior to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said Monday that a record 23 of NATO’s 32 member nations are hitting the body's defense spending targets this year as the war in Ukraine continues. 

According to the Associated Press, 6 member nations met the goal in 2021 prior to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

“Europeans are doing more for their collective security than just a few years ago,” Stoltenberg said during a speech at the Wilson Center before meeting with President Biden at the White House.
