Rep. Tim Burchett blasts Dems over illegals voting as House passes SAVE Act
Rep. Tim Burchett said that freedom is fragile and it's going to be lost if people don't stand up to this threat.
Rep. Tim Burchett, R-Tenn., said that illegal migrants voting in U.S. elections is a national security issue that must be addressed.
"It's a complacent national security issue," Burchett said on the "Furthermore with Amanda Head" podcast. "It's why they're [the Democrats] are allowing these illegals to come into this country. We know it."
On Wednesday, the House voted to pass the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act in a 221-198 vote, with 198 Democrats voting against the bill. The legislation would require proof of citizenship to vote in federal elections, however the Biden administration has said it is already illegal for noncitizens to vote in elections.
As of now it is not clear if the Senate will take up the legislation and, should it reach President Joe Biden's desk, he will likely veto it.
"We've had congressmen say, 'I want these illegals in my district for the Census,'" Burchett said. "They want everybody counted."
He asserted that freedom is fragile and will be lost if people don't stand up to this threat.
