The Trump administration on Wednesday announced a record low in border crossings for the month of June while touting that it had released zero illegal aliens into the U.S. interior for the second month in a row.

Border Patrol encounters in June fell to a record low of 25,243 at the southern border, while "gotaways" fell 90% over the same month in 2024. The Border Patrol previously confirmed that figure to be an average of 38 per day.

June 28 marked the lowest single-day encounter record, with the Border Patrol encountering a mere 137 border crossers.

“The numbers don’t lie—under President [Donald] Trump’s leadership, [Department of Homeland Security] and CBP have shattered records and delivered the most secure border in American history," Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said in a statement. "The world is hearing our message: the border is closed to law breakers. Under President Trump, our Border Patrol agents are empowered to do their job once again, secure our border and protect the American people.”

The administration used the border security statistics to urge Congress to follow through with the "Big, Beautiful Bill" to expand Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) personnel and to finish the southern border wall.
