Donald Trump Jr. appears to have thrown his support behind Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton's proposal to drop out of the GOP Senate primary if Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, commits to passing the SAVE America Act via the talking filibuster.

Paxton and Cornyn advanced to a runoff on Tuesday evening. President Donald Trump later indicated he planned to endorse one of the candidates and ask the other to drop out so as to avoid a contentious primary. Paxton, for his part, offered to bow out if Cornyn agreed to push for passage of the voter ID bill that has stalled in the Senate.

"Wow!!!! Total commitment to one of the most important pieces of legislation to save Our Republic. Pass the Save America Act now!!!!" Trump Jr. posted on X, in response to Paxton.

"I would consider dropping out of this race if Senate Leadership agrees to lift the filibuster and passes the SAVE America Act," Paxton posted. " John Cornyn is a coward who has refused to support abolishing the filibuster to pass this bill. Now, Fake News reporters and the establishment are trying to destroy me with misinformation... For the good of our country and for the good of passing President Trump's agenda, I am determined to help him get this done."

Cornyn has reiterated that he supports the SAVE Act, but has not committed to supporting the talking filibuster to actually pass it, nor has he been willing pressure other holdouts to that effect.
