U.S. strikes 'completely and totally obliterated' Iran's nuclear facilities, Trump says

President Donald Trump announced Saturday night that U.S. warplanes attacked Iran's three main nuclear sites in an bid to end the Islamist regime's nuclear weapons program. The American strikes have 'completely and totally obliterated' the facilities, the president said.

"Our objective was the destruction of Iran's nuclear enrichment capacity and a stop to the nuclear threat posed by the world's number one state sponsor of terror," Trump said in a nationally televised address. "Tonight, I can report to the world that the strikes were a spectacular military success."

"Iran's key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated," the president declared. "...There's no military in the world that could have done what we did tonight, not even close," 

The president implored Iran to make peace now and warned any retaliatory strike by Iran would be met with a massive U.S. response.

"Iran, the bully of the Middle East, must now make peace. If they do not, future attacks will be far greater and a lot easier.," he said.

Both U.S. and Israeli authorities braced for retaliatory attacks, with New York City raising its threat alert, the Pentagon watching for strikes on U.S. assets in the Middle East and Israel asking its citizens to avoid any unnecessary travel of activities.

Fourteen years after Trump first declared in a 2011 book that Iran could not became a nuclear power, he committed U.S. military jets to drop six bunker-busting bombs on Iran's Fordow facility where Tehran repeatedly thwarted international inspectors for years.

The bombs known as GBU-57s is the largest bomb known to mankind outside of a nuclear warhead and early satellite imagery showed they delivered devastating destruction on Fordow. U.S. Tomahawk missiles fired from submarines targeted two other Iranian nuclear facilities.

The action came after Trump exhausted efforts for a negotiated deal and Iran continued to vow death to America and mounted counter attacks on Israel. First word of the operation came from Trump himself on social media around 8 p.m. ET. 

"We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan," Trump announced on his Truth Social platform.

"All planes are now outside of Iran air space. A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home," the president added. "Congratulations to our great American Warriors. There is not another military in the World that could have done this. NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE! Thank you for your attention to this matter."

U.S. officials told Just the News that B2 bombers dropped about a half dozen 30,000-pound bunker-buster bombs on Fordow, the must fortified and mountain-encased nuclear site inside Iran. Open Source Intel, an intelligence tracking site, declared the attacks were so successful that "Fordow is gone."

Reaction poured in across the world, with Iran's official state TV vowing vengeance and congressional leaders from Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman James Risch calling the attacks necessary to keep Iran from obtaining a nuclear bomb.

Trump did not take questions upon his return to the White House on Saturday ahead of a national security meeting.
