US set to deport illegal immigrants to Libya on military flight: report
The illegal immigrants could be flown to Libya by the U.S. military as early as Wednesday.
The U.S. intends to deport illegal immigrants to Libya on military flights soon as part of President Trump's crackdown on illegal immigration, according to a news report Wednesday morning.
Two U.S. officials told Reuters that the illegal immigrants could be flown to Libya by the U.S. military as early as Wednesday but that plans could change.
The White House and departments of State and Homeland Security have not responded to Reuters' requests for comment.
It is unknown how many illegal immigrants would be sent to Libya or their nationalities.
Last week, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that part of the Trump administration's mass deportation program includes expanding its use of foreign prisons.
“Not just El Salvador,” he said. “We are working with other countries to say, ‘We want to send you some of the most despicable human beings to your countries.’”
