Trump endorses temporary spending bill through September

Trump took a shot at former President Joe Biden for how he handled the budget during his administration.

President Donald Trump on Thursday night endorsed a temporary spending bill to fund the government until September.

"We are working very hard with the House and Senate to pass a clean, temporary government funding Bill (“CR”) to the end of September," Trump wrote on TRUTH Social. "Let’s get it done!"

He also said former President Joe Biden has left behind a "mess" for having left office without sign a federal budget.

"As usual, Sleepy Joe Biden left us a total MESS," Trump's TRUTH post reads. "The Budget from last YEAR is still not done."

Congress has to pass a budget bill by March 14 to avert a government shutdown.

The House on Tuesday passed a budget resolution. The Senate passed its version earlier this month, so the chambers' negotiators will now meet to reach a compromise budget.

The House blueprint budget includes $5 trillion in new spending including money for President Donald Trump's border security initiatives, and it extended the president's 2017 tax cuts.
