Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., this week urged Democrats to fund the White House ballroom after a shooting at the White House Correspondents' Dinner highlighted lax security at the private venue.

"We were there front and center.

That venue wasn’t built to accommodate an event with the line of succession for the U.S. government.

After witnessing last night, drop the TDS and build the White House ballroom for events exactly like these," Fetterman posted on X.

"TDS" refers to "Trump Derangement Syndrome," a term that describes reflexive opposition to any move from the White House. President Donald Trump has sought to build a White House ballroom, fulfilling a longstanding wish of prior presidents, though he has faced a litany of legal hurdles along the way.

The suspect in the WHCD shooting, Cole Allen, faces arraignment on Monday morning.
