Illinois Democrats are panning President Trump's "Chipocalypse Now" social media post about Chicago, calling it unacceptable.
"This is not normal," Duckworth said of Trump's post on "Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan." "This is not acceptable behavior."
Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, a Democrat, said Trump is acting like a “wannabe dictator.”
In a Truth Social post on Saturday, Trump posted a screenshot with an AI-generated image of himself over the city of Chicago that read, "Chicago about to find out why it's called the Department of WAR."
The post, inspired by "Apocalypse Now," said, "I love the smell of deportations in the morning" instead of the 1979 film line, "I love the smell of napalm in the morning."
Trump signed an executive order on Friday to rename the Department of Defense to the Department of War but a concrete name change has to be approved by Congress.
Trump has send he plans to send National Guard troops to Chicago to crackdown on crime and illegal immigration, similar to his actions in Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles.
