Trump appoints White House counsel Alina Habba as interim US attorney for New Jersey
"Alina will lead with the same diligence and conviction that has defined her career," Trump wrote, "and she will fight tirelessly to secure a Legal System that is both “Fair and Just” for the wonderful people of New Jersey."
President Donald Trump on Monday announced that he was appointing White House counsel Alina Habba as his next interim U.S. Attorney for the state of New Jersey, and nominating the current interim U.S. Attorney for an ambassadorship.
Habba made a name for herself last year after she served as the face of Trump's legal team during his four indictments, and the president previously hailed her as a tireless advocate for "justice" in America.
Trump commented on her loyalty to him in a post on Truth Social, and said she would be returning to her home state of New Jersey.
"Alina will lead with the same diligence and conviction that has defined her career," Trump wrote, "and she will fight tirelessly to secure a Legal System that is both “Fair and Just” for the wonderful people of New Jersey."
The president added that Habba will be replacing interim U.S. Attorney for New Jersey John Giordano, who he is nominating for ambassador to the African country of Namibia.
"I am honored to serve my home state of New Jersey as Interim U.S. Attorney and I am grateful to President Trump for entrusting me with this tremendous responsibility," Habba wrote in a post on X. "Just like I did during my time as President Trump’s personal attorney, I will continue to fight for truth and justice. We will end the weaponization of justice, once and for all."
