Trump defends firing Bureau of Labor Statistics commissioner
"She had the biggest miscalculations in over 50 years," Trump alleged
President Trump on Sunday defended the firing of Erika McEntarfer, the Bureau of Labor Statistics commissioner, an appointee of former President Joe Biden.
"Head of the Bureau of of Labor Statistics did the same thing just before the Presidential Election, when she lifted the numbers for jobs to an all time high," he wrote on Truth Social.
"I then won the Election, anyway, and she readjusted the numbers downward, calling it a mistake, of almost one million jobs. A SCAM! She did it again, with another massive 'correction,' and got FIRED! She had the biggest miscalculations in over 50 years," he added.
National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett on Sunday said that the adjustment to employment data on Friday is justification for the firing of the BLS commissioner.
“I mean, the revisions are hard evidence,” he said on NBC News.
He also said that there have been a "bunch of patterns that could make people wonder."
