President Donald Trump on Friday told reporters that he plans to host the 2026 G20 summit at his resort and golf course in Doral, Florida.

Trump initially planned to a hold a G7 summit at his resort in 2020 but dropped the idea after he faced backlash over ethical concerns about hosting a global summit at one of his own properties.

The White House told CBS News that the resort will host the economic summit "at-cost, and will receive no profit from either the State Department or a foreign government."

A Trump administration official also told the outlet that the guest list for the 2026 summit is expected to be smaller than previous years and the U.S. "will be taking a back-to-basics approach to its host year, streamlining the summit and related workstreams and aligning the agenda with the G20's founding goals of economic growth and financial stability."

National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett will serve as the point person for the summit, which is scheduled to take place Dec. 14-15, 2026.
