President Donald Trump on Friday evening nominated his director of Presidential personnel, Sergio Gor, to become the next United States ambassador to India, and also the Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs.

Gor, who has led the Trump administration's staffing operations and employed nearly 4,000 "America First Patriots," across the federal government, will still need to be confirmed by the United States Senate.

Trump said Gor will remain in his post at the White House until he is confirmed.

"Sergio is a great friend, who has been at my side for many years," Trump said in a post on Truth Social.  "He worked on my Historic Presidential Campaigns, published my Best Selling Books, and ran one of the biggest Super [Political Action Committees], which supported our Movement.

"Sergio’s role as Director of Presidential Personnel has been essential to delivering on the unprecedented Mandate that we received from the American People," he continued. "For the most populous Region in the World, it is important that I have someone I can fully trust to deliver on my Agenda and help us, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. Sergio will make an incredible Ambassador."

Several of Trump's allies have praised the selection, including FBI Director Kash Patel who praised Gor as an "outstanding pick," and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.

"I am so excited for my dear friend Sergio Gor, whom President Trump has nominated to be the Ambassador to the Republic of India," Noem posted on X. "For years, he has helped make America great again by putting the right people in the right places at the right time.

"He has been an integral part of Trump’s efforts to advance freedom and will continue that work as a part of an administration committed to building relationships and strengthening America First policies in a vital, fast-growing region of the world," she added.

Gor thanked Trump for the nomination and said it would "be the honor of my life to represent the United States" in India.
