White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt on Tuesday announced that President Donald Trump will push the deadline for TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, to divest from the platform by another 90 days.

The executive order is expected to come sometime this week, ahead of the June 19 deadline currently in place. The president signed an executive order extending the deadline in January, and then again in April after a deal with China fell apart.

Leavitt did not specify when the president is expected to sign the new order, which will keep the popular streaming app available in the United States. But Trump has indicated he plans to extend the deadline that keeps the ban from taking effect.

“As he has said many times, President Trump does not want TikTok to go dark,” Leavitt said in a statement shared with The Hill. “This extension will last 90 days, which the Administration will spend working to ensure this deal is closed so that the American people can continue to use TikTok with the assurance that their data is safe and secure.”

The new deadline would likely take place sometime in September.
