Trump says 'we have a buyer for TikTok,' will reveal in 'about two weeks'
He says there is a group of "very wealthy people" behind the potential deal.
President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that his administration found a buyer for TikTok and he will reveal their identity within the next two weeks.
He said there is a group of "very wealthy people" behind the potential deal.
Shark Tank investor Kevin O'Leary has previously expressed an interest in buying the app but it is unclear if he is involved in the group Trump is set to reveal.
Trump's comments were made during an interview on Fox News Channel's "Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo."
Trump signed an executive order earlier in June extending deadline by 90 days for China-based ByteDance to divest U.S. assets of the social media app TikTok.
"We have a buyer for TikTok, by the way," he said. "I'll tell you in about 2 weeks."
He predicted that Chinese President Xi Jingping will probably approve the sale.
