Trump suggests Vance 'most likely' GOP nominee, floats Rubio for senior role
Thus far, no Republican has announced their campaign for the Republican nomination in 2028.
President Donald Trump on Tuesday floated a possible Vance/Rubio ticket for 2028 while speaking to reporters.
When pressed on comments from Secretary of State Marco Rubio that Vice President JD Vance would a "great nominee," Trump stated that he was "most likely, in all fairness. He's the vice president."
"I think Marco is also somebody that maybe would get together with JD in some form," he added. "Certainly, he's doing a great job and he would be probably favored at this point."
Trump did, however, assert that it was "too early" to make any definitive assertions or endorsement. Thus far, no Republican has announced their campaign for the Republican nomination in 2028.
