Trump vetoes Colorado drink water project, sparking criticism again from former loyalist Rep Boebert

President Donald Trump's veto of a major drinking water project in Colorado has sparked immediate backlash from one of the state's GOP House members, Rep. Lauren Boebert, a former loyal MAGA ally.

Boebert also recently challenged Trump over the Jeffrey Epstein files.

The White House announced Trump's veto of the bill, the Finish the Arkansas Valley Conduit Act. It was approved unanimously by the House and Senate, according to Reuters.

The veto was one of two Trump issued late Tuesday, the only two so far of his second term. The other measure impacts a Florida project.

The veto of the Colorado project follows Trump's vow to retaliate against the state for keeping his ally Tina Peters in prison, despite his attempt to pardon her and Boebert's efforts to force the release of the government's files on the late convicted sexual offender Epstein.

Peters, a former Colorado county clerk, is serving a nine-year prison term after being convicted on state charges for illegally tampering with voting machines in the 2020 presidential election. Trump's pardon covers only federal charges and the state has refused to release Peters.

Boebert posted on X that the Colorado measure was a "completely non-controversial, bipartisan bill." She also said she hopes the veto "has nothing to do with political retaliation for calling out corruption and demanding accountability," Reuters also reports.
