Vance claims Trump has earned the US' trust when it comes to foreign policy

Vice President JD Vance on Tuesday defended President Donald Trump from attacks regarding the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran, claiming that the president has earned the trust of Americans when it comes to foreign policy.
The vice president noted that his boss has been consistent in his opposition to Iran developing nuclear weapons, highlighting that there have been multiple times since 2015 where Trump claimed the Middle Eastern country cannot have them.
The lengthy social media post comes after Israel launched a preemptive attack on Iran last week that targeted its nuclear facilities. Trump has since shared support for Israel, highlighting how dangerous a nuclear-capable Iran would be.
"POTUS has been amazingly consistent, over 10 years, that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon," Vance insisted. "Over the last few months, he encouraged his foreign policy team to reach a deal with the Iranians to accomplish this goal. The president has made clear that Iran cannot have uranium enrichment. And he said repeatedly that this would happen one of two ways--the easy way or the 'other' way."
The vice president also clarified that there is a difference between "civilian nuclear power" and "uranium enrichment," and that Iran has declined offers to have civilian nuclear power without enrichment.
"It's one thing to want civilian nuclear energy. It's another thing to demand sophisticated enrichment capacity," Vance said. "I have yet to see a single good argument for why Iran needed to enrich uranium well above the threshold for civilian use. I've yet to see a single good argument for why Iran was justified in violating its non-proliferation obligations."
He concluded with a push for Americans to trust Trump when it comes to Iran, noting the "restraint" the president has shown in keeping the focus on protecting U.S. forces in the Middle East.
"I believe the president has earned some trust on this issue," he said. "Having seen this up close and personal, I can assure you that he is only interested in using the American military to accomplish the American people's goals. Whatever he does, that is his focus."
