Vance to visit Minneapolis on Wednesday, pay respects to mass shooting victims

The White House on Tuesday night announced that Vice President JD Vance and second lady Usha Vance will visit Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Wednesday to pay their respects to the victims of the recent mass shooting in the city.
Nearly two dozen people were shot in the mass shooting at the Annunciation Catholic Church last week, where two children were killed by alleged gunman Robin Westman. The shooting occurred while parishioners were attending Mass.
"On Wednesday, September 3, 2025, Vice President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance will visit Minneapolis, Minnesota, to pay their respects to victims of the Annunciation Catholic Church shooting," the White House said in a news release. "They will hold a series of private meetings to convey condolences to the families of those affected by the tragedy."
Minneapolis public schools began classes on Tuesday with substantially increased visible patrol presence, but Annunciation Catholic School will remain closed. On Sunday, the church held its first Mass since the shooting.
