White House takes credit for Cracker Barrel pulling new logo: 'They thanked President Trump'
"I appreciated the call earlier this evening with @CrackerBarrel," White House Deputy Chief of Staff Taylor Budowich wrote
The White House took credit for Cracker Barrel pulling its new logo that drew strong backlash from its customers, saying the restaurant company "thanked President Trump for weighing in."
"I appreciated the call earlier this evening with @CrackerBarrel," White House Deputy Chief of Staff Taylor Budowich posted on X on Tuesday. "They thanked President Trump for weighing in on the issue of their iconic 'original' logo. They wanted the President to know that they heard him, along with customer response (the ultimate poll), and would be restoring the 'Old Timer.' So smart! Congrats Cracker Barrel and America!"
"Congratulations 'Cracker Barrel' on changing your logo back to what it was. All of your fans very much appreciate it. Good luck into the future. Make lots of money and, most importantly, make your customers happy again!" Trump posted on Truth Social just minutes later.
Cracker Barrel on Tuesday announced it had changed its mind on the company's new logo, opting to stick with its "old timer" logo instead.
The restaurant chain debuted the new logo last week, which removed "Uncle Herschel" from the logo in favor of a text-only design.
The removal of the Cracker Barrel staple, along with a revamped interior that removed trademark American artifacts used as wall decorations and country-style wooden furniture, prompted outrage from loyal fans who accused the company of going woke.
"We thank our guests for sharing your voices and love for Cracker Barrel," the restaurant chain posted on X. "We said we would listen, and we have. Our new logo is going away and our ‘Old Timer’ will remain.
"At Cracker Barrel, it’s always been – and always will be – about serving up delicious food, warm welcomes, and the kind of country hospitality that feels like family," the company continued. "As a proud American institution, our 70,000 hardworking employees look forward to welcoming you to our table soon."
The reversal also came the same day Trump shared that he thought the company should revert to its old logo and admit its mistake.
"Cracker Barrel should go back to the old logo, admit a mistake based on customer response (the ultimate Poll), and manage the company better than ever before," Trump posted on Truth Social. "They got a Billion Dollars worth of free publicity if they play their cards right. Very tricky to do, but a great opportunity."
"Have a major News Conference today. Make Cracker Barrel a WINNER again," he continued. "Remember, in just a short period of time I made the United States of America the 'HOTTEST' Country anywhere in the World. One year ago, it was 'DEAD.' Good luck!"
Cracker Barrel also saw shares in its stock drop last week over the redesign.
