House Democrat Al Green launches another attempt to impeach Trump, via privileged resolution

Long-time Democratic Texas Rep. Al Green on Monday launched another long-shot attempt to impeach President Donald Trump before the November midterms by introducing a privileged resolution on the House floor.

Green, who has tried several times to impeach the president, cited the deaths of two American citizens who were killed by federal immigration officials earlier this year. 

The Democrat insisted that his party does not need to wait and see if they win the midterms in less than two months in order to impeach the president, according to Fox News.

"To those who say, 'Wait until next year' and 'Buckle up' when the investigations start, I say: How many more lives must we lose, and how many more loved ones of victims have to plead for help before the self-evident evidence from videos and President Trump’s own words compel us to act?" Green wrote. "The available overwhelming evidence sufficiently demonstrates that President Trump is unfit and dangerous to our democracy."

The privileged resolution means that the House will now have two days to vote on it, but the maneuver is expected to be a headache for Democrats who have maintained that the party needs to focus on addressing issues facing Americans like the high cost of living.

The move comes after Green introduced articles of impeachment against the president last month, also citing the deaths of Renée Good and Alex Pretti earlier this year. 

Green also previously introduced articles of impeachment against Trump in June 2025, but the legislation never received the support necessary to advance in the House.
