House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer says his panel will investigate the deaths and disappearances of at least 10 scientists who were linked to sensitive military and aerospace research projects.

“We’re very concerned about this. This is a national security concern. This would suggest that something sinister may be happening,” Comer said Sunday in an interview on the Fox News Channel's “Fox & Friends" show.

“Hopefully, with our bully pulpit, we can maybe bring attention to this and have anyone that knows of any information out there, have them contact Congress so we can help determine what’s going on here and prevent this from happening in the future."

President Donald Trump said last week that he had been briefed on the scientists and said that his administration would get to the bottom of the matter.

"I hope it's random," Trump told reporters Thursday outside the White House. "We're going to know in the next week and a half. I just left a meeting on that subject."

He also said: "Some of them were very important people, and we are going to look at it."

So far, there is no public evidence that the deaths or disappearances of the scientists linked to secret nuclear and aerospace research since 2023 are connected. However, speculation, including from lawmakers, has grown after several disappearances in recent months.
