House passes measure requiring Trump to get congressional approval for continuation of war in Iran

The House on Thursday narrowly passed a resolution requiring congressional approval for the war in Iran to continue. 

The 214-208 vote comes as the Senate is expected to consider a similar resolution later on Thursday, the Associated Press reported. 

The votes are symbolic and meant to signal to President Donald Trump that support for ongoing military action is waning as the war drags on. It also shows bipartisan skepticism of the Trump administration's objectives in the warn. 

The resolution passed after a group of Republicans voted wiht Democrats, but the vast majority of Republicans voted to cede congressional war powers to Trump.
