James O'Keefe charged over viral voting video in Minnesota
State law bars impersonation of a registered voter and identity theft. Both carry a five-year prison maximum prison sentence.
Investigative journalist James O'Keefe was charged in Minnesota over a video he made earlier this year in which he highlighted a state law that permits one registered voter to vouch for up to eight others who lacked ID.
The video saw O'Keefe dress in Islamic garb, alongside conservative provocateur Cam Higby. O'Keefe and Higby were charged in connection with the video for allegedly unlawful voting, the New York Times reported.

O'Keefe has long been known for undercover videos in which he convinces people whom he secretly films to reveal political biases or illegal practices.
He previously led Project Veritas, but was ousted in a board dispute and has since established a new organization.
