A federal judge dismissed a criminal complaint against two former FBI officials whom the government accused of misleading Congress about their knowledge of the Hunter Biden laptop investigation.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Zia Faruqui issued the decision on Monday after previously expressing skepticism of the case in an earlier hearing, the Associated Press reported.

Hunter Biden's laptop was the subject of bombshell reporting from the New York Post prior to the 2020 presidential election. Its contents became the subject of considerable scrutiny during his father's administration, with Republicans also exploring efforts from big tech companies to suppress the reporting prior to the election.

The two former officials named in the complaint stood accused of offering misleading testimony to Congress about their involvement in efforts to investigate the laptop.
