NY prosecutor claims Letitia James’ office pushed him to target Trump-linked entities

A prosecutor in New York Attorney General Letitia James’ office accused agency leaders of directing him to pursue President Donald Trump and other Trump-linked individuals and organizations without a legitimate basis.

Assistant Attorney General Daniel Wiesenfeld made the allegations in an agency-wide email Friday, claiming his supervisor instructed him to “find and pursue crimes” involving Trump, Truth Social and other entities despite what he described as a lack of credible justification.

The email was quickly removed from the inboxes of thousands of employees, according to the Times Union. 

Wiesenfeld was later placed on administrative leave with pay.

A spokesperson for James strongly rejected the allegations, saying the attorney general’s office remains committed to enforcing the law regardless of political beliefs and calling the matter a personnel issue.

Wiesenfeld could not immediately be reached for comment. The accusations added another chapter to the long-running political and legal feud between James and Trump.
