Peltola seeks dismissal of DOJ's Alaska election suit
Peltola won a special election to represent Alaska in the House of Representatives in 2022, before winning a full term later that year. She lost reelection to now-Rep. Nick Begich, R-Alaska.
Alaska Democratic Senate candidate Mary Peltola has asked a court to dismiss the Department of Justice's lawsuit related to her race.
Peltola filed the motion on Sunday, calling the DOJ suit "wholly baseless" and saying the matter brings "profound constitutional concerns," Reuters reported.
The DOJ case stems from the candidacy of one "Dan Sullivan," a candidate of the same name as Sen. Dan Sullivan, R-Alaska, who is seeking reelection. The suit contends that the non-incumbent Dan Sullivan is running solely to mislead Republicans and throw the race to Peltola.

The Alaska Senate race is expected to be one of the most competitive of the cycle in the battle for the upper chamber.
