Canada tariffs take effect at 50%; Ottawa vows to match
President Donald Trump imposed the tariffs under Section 338 of the Tariff Act of 1930, the Depression-era Smoot-Hawley law, after last-ditch talks collapsed late Friday. The duties cover about $20 billion in Canadian goods, from wine to hockey sticks to cement.
