New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani was booed at a vigil Wednesday in Manhattan for victims of the Oct. 7, 2023, attack on Israel by Palestinian-backed Hamas.

Mamdani, a Muslim, was booed by several hundred pro-Palestinian protesters at the Union Square Park event, which forced organizers to relocate the ceremony to a nearby area behind police barriers, according to local news outlet i24 News.

The event was organized by the Israeli collective Israelis for Peace. Demonstrators reportedly shouted “Traitor!” and “Zohran, what do you have to say?"
