President Donald Trump approved the execution and method on Monday and Telle signed an order for the execution to take place at Fort Hood on Dec. 3, 2026, at 1 p.m. Central.
Acting Army Secretary Adam Telle announced Tuesday that the execution of former Army psychiatrist and convicted terrorist and shooter Nidal Malik Hasan by firing squad will take place in December.
Hasan was convicted in 2013 of fatally shooting 13 people in 2009 and injuring 32 others at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas.
President Donald Trump approved the execution and method on Monday and Telle signed an order for the execution to take place at Fort Hood on Dec. 3, 2026, at 1 p.m. Central.
Hasan's execution will mark the first death sentence the military has carried out since 1961, when U.S. Army Private John Bennett was executed by hanging at the gallows of the U.S. Disciplinary Barracks in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
Hasan has been held on death row at Fort Leavenworth since his conviction.
