The Department of Homeland Security said Wednesday that an allegedly illegal migrant who worked as a canvasser for a Democratic congressional campaign in Pennsylvania has been arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The Nigerian migrant was arrested by ICE last week after he pleaded guilty to one charge of disorderly conduct related to an incident last month when he allegedly exposed himself in public.

The department identified the migrant as Chimaobim Adedayo Igbojekwe, who they said was working as a canvasser for Janelle Stelson, the Democratic nominee for Pennsylvania’s 10th congressional district, at the time of the incident.

“It’s unbelievable that Janelle Stelson would employ an illegal alien to work on a congressional campaign, let alone a pervert who exposed himself in public,” ICE Deputy Director Charles Wall said in a statement.

“Every single day, the men and women of DHS are working hard to target and remove dangerous illegal aliens like this sicko from our communities," he continued. "The Trump Administration will always put the safety of the American people first.”

Stelson's campaign has denied an affiliation with Igbojekwe, stating it had never heard of him prior to the arrest.

"This individual is not and has never been employed by the Janelle Stelson campaign," Stelson campaign manager Alma Baker said in a statement. "If he is an illegal immigrant who committed a crime he should be deported. We never heard of him prior to the news of his arrest."

The DHS said Igbojekwe was lawfully admitted to the United States in June 2017, but he remained in the U.S. illegally after his authorized period expired in 2019. He was later granted deferred action by the Biden administration in 2021.
