ICE detains former conservative star Milo Yiannopoulos

The Department of Homeland Security confirmed Friday that Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents have detained Milo Yiannopoulos, the former conservative media star who was once at the top of the right-wing political world.

The department said the former conservative star legally came into the United States in 2019 but overstayed his visa and was issued a final order of removal by a judge last month after he failed to show for his hearing.

TMZ first reported on Yiannopoulos's arrest in New Orleans, La. He was born in 1984 in the United Kingdom. Yiannapoulos was originally known for his position at Breitbart News in the lead-up to the 2016 election.

He later became chief of staff to Kanye West for several years. West is set to perform in New Orleans this week, and TMZ speculated that Yiannapoulos may have been in town for that event.

After a fall from grace in early 2017, Yiannapoulos made headlines intermittently, including for a brief stint in which he interned for now former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga.
