President Donald Trump confirmed Friday that he has appointed Trump Media & Technology Group adviser Katie Zacharia as the new White House press secretary, replacing former press secretary Karoline Leavitt in the role.

Leavitt, who is expected to start as a Fox News contributor next month, departed the administration in August after giving birth to her second child. She will join Kayleigh McEnany as the second of Trump's press secretaries to work for Fox.

Trump touted Zacharia, who works as the Senior Communications Advisor to Truth Social, as a "loyal and brilliant supporter."

"It is my Great Honor to have just appointed, as Press Secretary, Katie Zacharia," Trump sadi on Truth Social. "She has an unblemished record of support, and has been a loyal and brilliant supporter, right from the beginning.

"She is, likewise, a devoted fan and member of MAGA," he continued. "I am confident that Katie will deliver strong results for our country as the next White House Press Secretary, as she has the respect of, and will work fantastically with, the media, the American people, and my administration."

Zacharia previously served as spokesperson and deputy assistant secretary for public affairs at the Department of Homeland Security and is a graduate of Pepperdine University, and the Pepperdine Caruso School of Law.
