A drive-by shooting Friday on Chicago’s South Side at about 11 p.m. left 13 people injured, with victims ranging from 17 to 47 years old. A preliminary investigation revealed that two gunmen had opened fire on a crowd from a red SUV.

When officers first arrived at the scene, they found a 32-year-old woman who had been shot in the back twice and a 44-year-old man with four gunshot wounds in his back. Both were transported to local hospitals in good condition. More than 100 shell casings were found near the intersection of 95th Street and Wentworth Ave, according to CPD.

Johnson said in an X post on Saturday he’s “heartbroken” by the shooting.

“What should have been a night of celebration and community reflection for Juneteenth was shattered by a horrific act of violence,” he continued. “My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their loved ones.”

In a separate incident Friday, officers found an unresponsive 33-year-old man with several gunshot wounds to the body near South Hamlin Avenue and West 30th Street at about 9 p.m. He was later pronounced dead at Mt. Sinai Hospital.

In addition, two men, 26 and 28, were shot while walking in the Grand Crossing neighborhood in the 7200-block of South Dobson Avenue at about 9:56 p.m. The 26-year-old was shot in both legs, while the other was shot in the back and right arm. Both were transported to University of Chicago hospital in serious condition, and CPD reported a weapon found at the scene.

Police say the boy was arguing with another male, who then pulled out a gun and opened fire on the victim. As of Monday, no one has been taken into custody in connection to the shooting, and the victim is in fair condition.

Aniyhas S. Jackson, 18, was shot and killed at about 10:15 p.m. on W. Quincy Street. Officers located and detained the 17-year-old suspect after witnesses told police that he was still on the scene following the incident.
