Pop star Britney Spear voluntarily enters substance abuse treatment facility after DUI arrest
The 44-year-old was arrested in March on suspicion of driving under the influence of a combination of alcohol and drugs, after having failed a series of field sobriety tests.
Britney Spears has entered a substance abuse treatment facility following her recent arrest in Southern California on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, a representative for the pop superstar said Sunday.
The representative told the Associated Press the 44-year-old Spears voluntarily checked herself into the facility.
Spears was pulled over March 5 by California Highway Patrol officers after having received a report that a BMW was driving fast and erratically on U.S. 101 in Ventura County near the Los Angeles County line.
Spears rose to fame in the late 1990s and was global star through the 2010s. However, she has not toured in nearly eight years and has not put out an album in nearly a decade, according to the wire service.
She was under a court-ordered conservatorship for nearly 14 years until it was dissolved in 2021,allowing her to regain control of such decisions as her finances.
