One person confirmed dead in Texas flooding as rescuers work to save people from rising water

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said that at least one person is dead in the flooding that has struck parts of the state this week. 

Abbott said the death occurred in Kerr County, and crews have managed to rescue well over 70 people. The governor also said that the summer camps that were flooded last year are not in danger. 

Camp Mystic, where 25 girls and two camp counselors died last year in a flash flood, was planning to reopen this year. Those plans were canceled when victims' families and lawmakers became outraged that the camp would do so while lawsuits and investigations are ongoing. Camp Mystic in Texas filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization last month. 

Six million residents across Texas were under a flood watch as of late Wednesday, the Associated Press reported, and some were expected to remain in effect through Friday evening.
